What we keep and why

What you give us

When you join, two kinds of thing, in one form. About you: your name, your email address, the city if you add one, and which of the two boxes you ticked. About how you’d help: what you do, which problem you chose, what you wrote (including a problem you propose, if you name one), the link if you gave one, and the time you said you can give.

If your email was already on the list, what you write is kept too, but nothing about your first entry changes and nothing new is shown publicly. Write to us if you want the two put together.

Who reads what you write

Your name can be public, if you tick the box. What you write about how you’d help is private: only Ashwin reads it, and none of it is ever published.

Right now a person reads every answer, start to finish, and no AI sees it. If we bring in an AI to sort answers, we’ll name it on this page first, say from which date, and only use one that doesn’t train on what you send. Answers sent before that date stay person-read.

What we collect without you typing it

Two things, named so you don’t have to guess: the referring page you came from, and any utm_ campaign tags in the link you followed. We keep them to learn which conversations the manifesto reached people in. They’re never sold, never joined to anything you do elsewhere, and never used to profile you.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate. There is no cookie banner on this site because there are no cookies to consent to.

What we do with it

• Send you one email to confirm you joined.
• Write to you when the first open prototype has work in it.
• Work out who to introduce to whom.

What we never do

• Sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone to market to you.
• Publish anything you didn’t tick a box for. Your email address is never published, in any circumstance.
• Send you a newsletter or a fundraising appeal you didn’t ask for.

The public list

Only if you tick the box: your first name, your city, and the name of the problem you chose. Never what you wrote, and never a problem you proposed. You can be removed at any time by asking.

Age

Joining is for people aged 16 and over. If you’re younger and joined anyway, or you’re a parent who’s found your child’s name here, email hello@thefourthr.now and we’ll delete it — no questions.

Where it lives

In a Postgres database run by Neon (Singapore region), on a site hosted by Vercel, with email sent through Resend. There is no legal entity behind this yet: Ashwin Manghat holds this data personally and is accountable for it.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to delete it, or until this effort ends — at which point the list is deleted, not handed on.

Your controls

• Every email we send has a working one-click unsubscribe.
• Email hello@thefourthr.now to see, correct, delist or delete everything we hold about you. A person reads that address.
