What we keep and why
Plain language, no legalese. If anything here reads like it’s hiding something, tell us and we’ll fix it.
What you give us
When you sign, we keep exactly what the form asked for:
- Your name and email address.
- The piece or pieces you picked, and — if you chose one — the specific problem you said was yours.
- Anything you typed into “what would you bring”, “show us your work”, and “where you are”.
- Whether you ticked the funding box, the public-list box, and the consent box.
What we collect without you typing it
Two things arrive with your signup that you didn’t enter, and we’d rather name them than have you find them:
- The referrer — the page you were on when you clicked through to us.
- Campaign tags — the
utm_*parameters in the link you followed, if it had any.
We keep them for one reason: to know which rooms this actually reached people in, so we can spend our time where it works. They are never sold, never joined to anything you do elsewhere, and never used to build a profile of you.
Page traffic is measured with Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate. There is no cookie banner on this site because there are no cookies to consent to — no advertising pixels, no cross-site trackers, no session recording.
What we do with it
- Send you one confirmation email when you sign.
- Email you when the first build is far enough along to join. That is the whole plan — no newsletter, no drip sequence.
- Work out who to introduce to whom, and which problems have people on them.
What we never do
- Sell it. Ever. To anyone.
- Publish anything you didn’t explicitly tick a box for. Your email address is never published, in any circumstance.
- Send you anything you didn’t agree to receive.
The public list
The list at who’s signed is opt-in. If you ticked that box, it shows your first name, the piece you’re bringing, and the city you gave — nothing more. Untick it, or ask us later, and you’re off it.
Where it lives
Your record sits in a Postgres database hosted by Neon, on infrastructure operated by Vercel. Confirmation email is sent through Resend. Those three companies process this data on our behalf and do nothing else with it.
There is no legal entity behind this yet — Ashwin Manghat holds this data personally and is accountable for it. When there is an entity, this page will say so and you’ll be told.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until this effort ends — at which point the list is deleted, not handed on.
Your controls
- Every email has a working unsubscribe link. One click, done.
- Email hello@thefourthr.now to see everything we hold on you, correct it, take yourself off the public list, or have the whole record deleted. A person reads that address.
